GENRE: YA Romance
The race is on! Continuing on from FORGET ME NOT and REMEMBER ME, this is the thrilling third and final novel in Stacey Nash’s unforgettable YA series.
Since the strike on Collective territory during Anamae’s rescue, things have taken a turn for the worse. Unprovoked attacks on innocent people have Anamae and her friends fighting day and night to minimise the damage. With hundreds of lives lost, morale amongst the resistance fighters has plummeted. But that’s the least of her worries.
Manvyke still has Anamae’s mom, Annie, secreted away somewhere and after the way they parted, Anamae worries it’s not at her mother’s bidding. Maybe Annie’s disappearance all those years ago wasn’t her choice. But with Manvyke scouring the world, there’s something far more pressing than the need to find Anamae’s mother …
It’s a fight against time to find the other keys before Manvyke. In his hands, the three relics could unlock enough power to reek a much worse havoc than the current issues at hand. If the councillor gets his hands on those keys, civilization will bow down.
Guest Post– Background of the Collective Series
In some ways books are like babies. First there’s the idea, then there’s the creation, then after that there’s the birth. A lot of sweat, blood and tears go into making books!
When we talk about the idea, it’s really the story concept, and they come in all sorts and kinds. I’ve had stories come to me in dreams, and others grow organically, but the idea for the Collective Series brewed over time. The basic concept had been floating around in my head for too long. It’s the first book I ever wrote, so I guess the concept was born from many years of daydreaming. Then there was my love of a good tongue in cheek conspiracy theory. I have always found them fascinating and enjoyed picking them apart.
After I had the basic concept of a secret organization who suppressed advanced technology from the public, the rest of the story grew and expanded as the books unfolded. That’s the creation. As I wrote, I discovered my main character, a tenacious seventeen-year-old, and her long time friend who just wants to look out for her. The actual plot for book 1 and 2 came organically too, each chapter at a time. I just sat down in front of the computer everyday and the words fell off my fingertips. Kind of, that makes it sound a little too easy. Book 3, Never Forgotten, though took a lot more forethought. I had to plan it out pretty heavily to make sure it fit in with the existing books, and my plan for the overall series.
I guess you could say that the Collective Series is the story of my heart. They say to write the book you want to read and that’s exactly what I did with this series.
Wowzers, what an original way to end a trilogy! I don’t want to give too much away (we all know I abhor those spoilers) so I’ll keep this short and sweet. Nash has outdone herself on book number 3 and totally stolen my breath multiple times with the break-neck speed of action we follow in Never Forgotten. It’s like reading a fantasy version of an Indy 500, seriously speedy and bone chilling when it goes awry. Another great heroine for all of us who get tired of the hero being the center of things, although she certainly has some help along the way. It’s hard to say goodbye to these characters, but Nash has given them a beautiful final showing, and if you haven’t picked up the first two books, it’s never too late! 5 stars yo
