It’s a hoppin’ new year- Faeries and Fantasy Hop with @toobusyreading #giveaway #spotlight @sjwest2013

I’m so excited to be taking part in more blog features this year, and our second Hop is on the heels of our first.  This one is all about a very special author, Mrs. S.J. West.  She weaves story after story infused with classic fantasy tropes, and her own wild mythologies.  I love when a known mythological universe is turned on its heels and made into something wholly original, such as West’s Watchers Universe.  Here we have Fallen Angels or Watchers, taking care of humanity in the background until a cataclysmic event totally changes the world, and everyone learns about the existence of these angels.  One of my favorite series is actually the second set of stories, The Watcher Chronicles, and centers around Jess Riley, an agent working in tandem with the Watchers to keep the world safe from known and unknown enemies.  Jess is everything I love in a heroine- strong, sarcastic, completely self-sufficient and yet completely compassionate and a bestie to admire.  Then there’s Mason aka Mr. Yumsauce with an Attitude.  I love these two! #matchesandmarshmallowsforlife

S.J. West has given us a gigantic canon of work to lust over, and I hope that you will enjoy the journey!  Today’s giveaway is courtesy of the fabulous author herself, a shiny signed copy of the first book in the chronicles, Broken.  Be sure to visit the link below to visit all the hop stops for more chances to win!

At the tender age of seven, Jess Riley’s parents were ripped out of her life by the Tear, a ripple of white light in the sky which randomly transports people from Earth to alternate realities and distant planets once a year. On the night the Tear first appeared, the Watchers, a mysterious group of men possessing supernatural powers, made their presence known to the leaders of the world, earning their complete trust to deal with the turmoil the Tear caused.
Now twenty-two years old, Jess is an agent working for the Watcher Agency searching for a way to bring her parents back home. When the leader of the Watchers, Mason Collier, recruits her to join his team, Jess quickly discovers she is meant to play a major role in sealing the Tear forever. Mason and Jess instantly find themselves drawn to one another but they both resist their mutual attraction for different reasons. Broken by past events in their lives, they each struggle to overcome their fears and find the strength to take a chance on one another.

A Disclaimer from the Author:

It is not necessary to have read The Watchers Trilogy to read The Watcher Chronicles. But if you are interested in reading The Watchers Trilogy, I would recommend you not read this new series until you have finished Forgiven. What happens at the end of the trilogy is explained fairly early in Broken and I would hate for the ending of Forgiven to be ruined for you.

This series is intended for a mature audience. Recommended for ages 17 and older due to sexual situations and adult themes. If I were to use the movie rating system, I would rate this series an R.

Reading Order of Watcher Books by Series:

The Watchers Trilogy (Ages 13+)

The Watcher Chronicles (Ages 17+ due to mature content in books 3 and 4)

Caylin’s Story (Ages 13+ – Can be read by younger readers without having to read the Watcher Chronicles)

The Redemption Series (Ages 17+ due to mature content in books 3 and 4)

Bonus Books (Books which will be written but are not part of the main storyline):

Aiden’s Story

Alternate Earth Series

***The fine print aka how to win: Comment on this post and it would be a great idea to follow and like us, for bonus points of course.  Your only required entry is to let me know which hop stops you visited and what your fave thing is about fantasy and faeries!  Extra super bonus points for sharing! 1. I have visited a lot of blogs in the hop, Vailia´s Page Turner for one. I love fantasy, just to dream away to a far far land where everything can and will happen.:)

  2. That is the prettiest cover that I have seen in a long time. I love purple. This author is also new to me, but looks like a good read.
