About Say You’ll Remember Me

  • Hardcover: 464 pages
  • Publisher: Harlequin Teen (January 30, 2018)

Doesn’t matter who did it. Not anymore. I did the time. It’s over.”

When Drix was convicted of a crime—one he didn’t commit—he thought his life was over. But opportunity came with the Second Chance Program, the governor’s newest pet project to get delinquents off the streets, rehabilitated and back into society. Drix knows this is his chance to get his life back on track, even if it means being paraded in front of reporters for a while.

Elle knows she lives a life of privilege. As the governor’s daughter, she can open doors with her name alone. But the expectations and pressure to be someone she isn’t may be too much to handle. She wants to follow her own path, whatever that means.

When Drix and Elle meet, their connection is immediate, but so are their problems. Drix is not the type of boy Elle’s parents have in mind for her, and Elle is not the kind of girl who can understand Drix’s messy life.

But sometimes love can breach all barriers.

Fighting against a society that can’t imagine them together, Drix and Elle must push themselves—Drix to confront the truth of the robbery, and Elle to assert her independence—and each other to finally get what they deserve.

Mama Says:
What happens when you have to stand up to someone you love for someone you barely know?  When you try to fight for a scrap of control over your own life, when you are just starting to figure out what you want to do with said life, all while falling headfirst into the unknown? Elle isn’t just a polished daughter of the Governor of Kentucky, but for most of her life, that’s all anyone has known.  Drix is your typical kid from a broken home trying to find any means of escape.  Except for the time he didn’t.  Say You’ll Remember Me is the story of these two meeting in a series of unlikely scenarios that are all too easily misinterpreted by the voracious media, and by everyone in Elle’s father’s senate  campaign.  I found that although the story veered into predictable and sometimes even cheesy territory, the message at its heart was good and true.  Sometimes, to do the right thing, you have to do something that means you lose.  You have to sacrifice to make a difference.  I wasn’t completely swept away by any particular character, but I enjoyed the different relationships and the way the kids took care of one another, as kids often do when there aren’t any adults around to do it for them.  It was a sweet read with an easy pace, and would be suitable for most readers as it wasn’t graphic or explicit, though there is a bit of violence, it’s pretty mild.

3.5 stars and my sincere thanks to Harlequin Teen and TLC Book Tours for the review opportunity!
